In 2002 I joined with my friend Joshua Urness to cover the northern coast of the Mediterranean by bicycle. I can't think of a better cycle tour than the sunny country along the Med, spectacular scenery, awsome history, and gourmet eating. I couldn't find a better cycle partner than Joshua. Dispite the difference in our ages, we laughed and struggled and pedaled and tramped from nearly one end of the Med to another. We met wonderful people, ate our fill of pastry, and repaired our bikes for three months, a great trip I can recommend to everybody.
Many people have struggled to find the optimal group size for a cycle tour, solo, double, more? It's a hard decision. Solo can be lonely and risky, more people increases the fun with more personalitie to enjoy; but adding more people to the decision making requires more compromise. I think Joshua and I found the ideal solution, we developed bi-polar personalities so that we had only two decision makers but four personalities.
